    Banking Services

 

Several local banks as well as a few foreign banks offer the public comprehensive banking services up to European standards. The leading local banks are Bank of Cyprus, Laiki Bank and Hellenic Bank, which all operate through an extensive network of branches and several ATM’s across the island.

September to May  
Monday - Friday:
08:15-13:00.
Monday: 15:15 - 16:45
(May, June, July, August, Monday - Friday: 08:15 - 13:00)
   
Centrally located banks provide "afternoon tourist services".
Banks at the Larnaka and Pafos International Airports provide services in the daytime, as well as a night service for most flights.
Banking facilities are also available at the Lemesos Harbour.


 
   
The Euro in Cyprus
 

Cyprus adopted the Euro as its’ national currency replacing the Cyprus Pound on 1 January 2008. The irrevocable fixed exchange rate is 1 = CYP 0.585274. As from 1 February 2008, only Euro banknotes and coins can be used for cash payments in Cyprus, but banks and cooperative credit societies will continue to exchange Cyprus Pounds free of charge for limited amounts, at the fixed rate until 30 June 2008. After that, only the Central Bank of Cyprus will exchange Cyprus Pound coins until 31 December 2009, and banknotes until 31 December 2017.
