The tour begins with a drive to Cavo Greko, and a walk up to the top of the “tigani” (frying pan) where you will be introduced to the archaeology of the area and its natural beauty. This is followed by a drive to Agioi Anargyroi, a chapel in the northern part of Cavo Greko. After a coffee break at the “limanaki” (fishing harbour) the tour continues along the coast to the archaeological site of Macronissos and the church of Agia Thekla. Lefkosia

Chrysaliniotissa and Kaimakli:
The Past Restored

The tour is conducted on an old traditional bus… a delightful experience!
Discover two of the most peaceful areas in Lefkosia: Chrysaliniotissa, the most historic neighborhood within the city walls, and Kaimakli, a “village” within the Municipality of Lefkosia.
Chrysaliniotissa is currently being ‘revitalized’ under the Lefkosia Master Plan, which includes the renovation of old buildings and the construction of new ones. Young families moving into the neighbourhood are breathing new life into an area that was abandoned after the Turkish invasion of 1974. Kaimakli’s old nucleus still boasts typical examples of late 19th and early 20th century domestic architecture, built by the renowned master craftsmen of Kaimakli and still greatly valued today.

Lefkosia within the Walls
This tour provides an overview of how the city within the walls has evolved in the course of history. Special emphasis is on developments from medieval times to the present, which are evident in the local architecture and some churches. You will also have the chance to visit the workshops of craftsmen who still practice their traditional trade. Tailors and cobblers, candle and chair makers, blacksmiths and coppersmiths are just a few of the many endangered craftsmen you can observe at work during the tour.

Lefkosia outside the Walls
It was during British colonial rule (1878-1960), when the first government offices were built outside the original city walls. Continued development has created a large urban area, which incorporates former nearby villages or municipalities.

The tour begins with a drive that takes you outside the walls through the western gate (Pafos Gate), and along the Pedieos River to the Government Offices. As you walk along the river to the archaeological excavations at Agios Georgios Hill, the city’s prehistoric past and unbroken cultural continuity will be revealed. The bus then takes you past the Presidential Palace and the English School for a short walk in the neighbourhood of Ayioi Omologites before returning to the old city.

Lemesos

Lemesos (Germasogeia)
Germasogeia – A Village Blessed with Water

Water has always been the most important element in the development of Germasogeia. The village borders on the sea in the south, and on a water dam in the north.

This tour takes you for a stroll through the narrow streets of the peaceful, picturesque village, 15 minutes away from the beach. Here you can discover Germasogeia’s special architecture, visit its churches, and experience rural life. You will also visit the Germasogeia dam, which is fed by the river Amathos coming from the Troodos mountains.

Discover the Natural Environment of Germasogeia
This tour takes you away from the village to the unspoiled hills of Germasogeia. It begins with an enjoyable ride on an old Bedford bus, partly on dirt roads. The actual walk, some of it uphill, is along the Phinikaria nature trail. Walking for over half an hour you will enjoy a beautiful sample of the Cyprus countryside and a magnificent view of the water dam and river. In the wintertime colourful flowers and shrubs cover the valley, which is filled with the scent of wild herbs, flowers and tree blossoms.

Starting point: CTO Information Office,
Georgiou A’ 22, (Eastern entrance of Dasoudi Beach area) Germasogeia
