If you are the sporty, adventurous type and you enjoy a bit of action during your holiday, you will be impressed by the variety of water sports within reach.

There are two basic categories of water sports: unaccompanied, or with an instructor and/or the aid of a speedboat to pull you.

Self-drive speedboats can be hired for half a day or a day, simply to sail. It's fun and gives you the chance to visit other beaches around the coast. Pedalos are quite popular among families with younger children, as they are safe and easy to use and can carry approximately five people. Canoeing, on the other hand, is a much faster one-man/woman sport.

For ultimate speed and action, head straight for the jet-bike, either on your own or with a friend. This sport, however, is restricted: you must be over 18, and life jackets are compulsory. Another popular sport is water skiing. Balancing on the water isn’t quite so easy, but once you get the hang of it, it's great.

If you’re looking for good fun with a group of friends, the banana ride is for you. Just hold on tight as the banana hops on the waves.

For the brave spirit that is not intimidated by heights, we recommend parasailing. As the speedboat accelerates, you will be lifted up into the sky. Hanging from a parachute you will enjoy a fantastic panoramic view.

Although not quite a water sport, and certainly not for the fainthearted, bungee jumping is another thrill that awaits you on the southern coast of Cyprus.
